Forbes Magazine, which is known for giving the most accurate data in the world, released its list of richest billionaires in Asia and the Chairman of Reliance industries, Mr. Mukesh Ambani is at the top.
As per the latest figures released by Forbes, Mukesh Ambani’s net worth us $42.1 billion (Rs. 2.72 lakh crore). Wow! These are staggering numbers. Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Industries is the country’s most valued firm with a market capitalisation of over Rs. 6 lakh crore followed by TCS, HDFC Bank, ITC and HDFC in the top five list.
While, the net worth of Mr. Hui Ka Yan, the chairman of China’s Evergrande group is $40.6 billion (2.62 lakh crore).
Mr. Mukesh Ambani’s wealth is equal to the entire GDP of the former Soviet republic of Azerbaijan, as per World Bank Data 2016 estimates,” Forbes said. Meanwhile Hui Ka Yan’s wealth slumped by $1.28 billion to $40.6 billion on Wednesday.
With a net worth of $38 billion (about Rs 2.4 lakh crore), Ambani has also topped the Forbes annual list of India’s 100 richest tycoons of 2017.
“To put it in context, this is equal to the entire GDP of the former Soviet republic of Azerbaijan, as per World Bank Data 2016 estimates,” Forbes said. Wipro’s Azim Premji came in second, while the Hinduja family was ranked third. The richest newcomer is airline tycoon Nusli Wadia, ranked 25 on the list.
In this list of richest billionaires of the world, Amazon founder and CEO Mr. Jeff Bezos, with a net worth of $93.3 billion, went past Mr. Bill Gates to become the world’s richest man. Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates ranked second with his $89.5 billion fortune. Facebook founder Mr. Mark Zuckerbeg stood at the fifth spot with a fortune of $75.8 billion.
