Instances of dissatisfaction with Uber and Ola drivers, whether due to overcharging or misbehavior, are not uncommon. Recently, attention was drawn to such concerns when a Delhi resident highlighted safety issues and overcharging by an Uber driver. Taking to the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, the man recounted his wife’s distressing experience as a passenger, calling for accountability from Uber India.
Gajender Yadav, an X user, condemned the Uber driver’s conduct as “unacceptable.”
He alleged that the driver attempted to overcharge his wife and criticized Uber for failing to respond to her distress calls during the incident. According to Yadav, his wife encountered the issue after just a 1 km ride in Delhi, where the driver demanded an additional Rs 200. Despite his wife pressing the SOS button for assistance, Uber did not intervene or address the situation.
Yadav took to X to identify the cab driver, warning others against taking rides with him, and expressed frustration with Uber’s lack of action. He shared a screenshot detailing the accused driver’s information.
“If you are in Delhi….don’t take ride with KARAN….car number DL1RTB4168”.
“Absolutely nonsense behavior from @Uber_Support @Uber_India cab driver. After driving for 1 km….cab driver started asking for Rs 200 extra. My wife even pressed SOS button for help from Uber 2 fix this matter. It’s been 2 days and not a single person from Uber care to know exactly why SOS was pressed. No follow up. That’s the condition of UBER INDIA”

Uber’s response, asking for confirmation of the cash payment to the driver, further irked Yadav, who stressed that the issue was primarily about passenger safety rather than monetary concerns.
It's not about F******** money. It's about SAFETY OF PASSENGER.
Bunch of idiots sitting in customer service.

Although Uber refunded the money, Yadav continued to question the company’s understanding of passenger safety concerns. He highlighted the driver’s inappropriate behavior and the malfunctioning SOS button, expressing disbelief at Uber’s response.
@UberIN_Support @Uber_India @Uber refunding the money 🤦🤦
Why it is so difficult 2 understand the PROBLEM IS SAFETY OF PASSENGER. WHY THE HELL SOS BUTTON WAS NOT WORKING. WHAT ACTION HAVE TO TAKEN ON UBER DRIVER.
HOW CAN YOUR DRIVER ASK A LADY PASSENGER TO STEP OUT OF THE CAB… pic.twitter.com/uFuIGdJZdC

Yadav later updated his post regarding the complaint about the SOS button, revealing that Uber claimed it was a third-party feature not managed by them. He also shared a safety helpline number provided by Uber for emergencies, urging others to prioritize their safety and sharing his positive experience with the helpline.
@Uber @Uber_India @UberIN_Support maintaining pin drop silence on SOS blunder. Neither they care about the incidence and nor contacted us to know what exactly went wrong.
Look like their cab drivers are running the company.

@Uber_India @UberIN_Support @Uber
Uber is a prime example of MONOPOLY in the market. Since passengers don't have any alternatives….they have 2 ride Uber compromising on many parameters including safety.— Gajender Yadav (@imYadav31) April 22, 2024
After Yadav’s post gained traction, Uber reached out to him, informing him that the accused driver’s account had been terminated and assuring him that the driver’s cab would no longer be available on the platform. Yadav expressed gratitude for the support received from X users.
*UPDATE*@Uber @Uber_India @UberIN_Support wakes up after this thread went Viral.
The guy noted all of our concerns. Asked us 2 take. Said he will give call back.
On SOS thing Uber says that's the third party thing and not done by Uber 🤦

Passengers are helpless to be frank.. we are left with no other options. ola is no clean either.
There is no real solution (yet) imo— ÄJ (@sync2nirvana) April 22, 2024
It's been long since I have stopped using Uber Ola for important travel plans. Better to have a local cab driver contact, even if you pay them 200-300 extra, you will have peace of mind.

Are the SOS buttons there only for show? Woman safety is a joke to you guys??— Cards Wizard (@cards_wizard) April 22, 2024
These kind of issues are regular with @Uber @Olacabs.
Hardly any compliance.. Never tried it but hardly surprised that SOS Button is just for showoff.
For this extra money, People do complain and take back their extra money but instead of taking action, they let these errant…
