After playing a social revolutionary in his recent movies, Toilet Ek Prem Katha and Padman, the ‘Khiladi’ of Bollywood is all set to begin work for his next flick. Seems like he has taken a great liking to being the reel version of men who have mattered to India and his next flick too would be a biopic of another man who mattered so much to India.

In his next project, Akshay Kumar will be seen playing the role of Dr. Verghese Kurien. Well, for all those who don’t know who Dr. Verghese Kurien is, he is the founder of Amul and the man behind the white revolution.

It was his vision and determination that took India from being a nation deficient in milk production to be the leading producer of milk in the world.

Verghese Kurien worked relentlessly at grass root levels to transform dairy farming and generate employment opportunities. Amul was responsible for generating large-scale revenue and employment opportunities for rural India and hence we must be amply thankful to this man.

The film will be made by Ekta Kapoor who has bought the rights of “I Too Had A Dream” which is the biography of Verghese Kurien. The movie will be directed by the same director who helmed Toilet Ek Prem Katha.

With such a strong and interesting story being replicated on the silver screen and Akshay Kumar in the lead, this movie already seems a big hit. Now the story is interesting and it is about one of the best men to have mattered to India. Let’s see how it goes and how much justice can Akshay Kumar do to Dr. Verghese who transformed diary farming in India.

This would not be the first film on this story though. There was already a film made on Dr. Verghese in 1976 and it was called ‘Manthan.’ In that movie, Girish Karnad played Dr. Kurien.
