It was an unfortunate day for the ‘Men in Blue’ as they lost their only chance to enter the finale as New Zealand defeated them in semi-finale by 18 runs. Their loss took the nation by storm. Everyone was waiting for the Indian cricket team to qualify for the finale and bring the trophy back home. Nevertheless, our Indian cricket team played well and were leading the points table throughout the tournament.
During the semi-finale, India had a weak start against the kiwis, with wickets of Indian batsmen falling down. Somehow, Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni restored our faith and brought us closer to the target runs.
After Ravindra Jadeja’s heroics with the bat arrived at an unexpected end at 77 (59), all hopes and pressure were on Dhoni’s shoulders. As long as, Dhoni was there on the field putting in efforts, the hopes of millions of people were alive, but when he fell, the hopes shattered into pieces.
Considered best in the business, MS Dhoni was given run-out after Martin Guptill appeared out of nowhere to return a lightning-quick throw aimed directly at the stumps, while MS Dhoni was completing his second run. Dhoni fell short of the crease by a few inches and all hopes were lost.
The Indian cricket fans are still not over it yet. Amidst all this, pictures and videos of English umpire Richard Kettleborough, who watched the close dismissal of MS Dhoni, has been making rounds on the internet. Richard’s stunned looking reactions clearly sums up the every desi fan’s feelings, who was heartbroken after MS Dhoni’s dismissal.
