Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the celebrated cricketer of India who has been able to establish himself as an asset to the team recently announced his retirement from T20 cricket. However, the all-rounder ex-captain, who held the position of a prominent wicket-keeper and ace batsman recently was dropped from the Board of Control for Cricket in India contract this year. This resulted in a large loss of five crores that the BCCI used to pay Dhoni. Cognoscenti of cricket, raised their voices to state that this was not a correct step to put forth owing to what Dhoni had contributed during his age to Indian cricket. But others are justifying that this might be a way of Dhoni completely retiring fro the world of cricket.
As per Forbes magazine in 2019, Dhoni was estimated at 36 crores. However, the current decrease in income does not seem to be a bother for Mahi, as he has his fingers in a lot other varied areas. Let us take a look at a few of his interests apart from cricket, which provides him with quite a good and sustainable amount each year.
Seven is a premium brand that showcases and promotes a healthy lifestyle that includes sports and energetic and dynamic functioning of the human physique and mind. The concept was launched in 2016, February. Soon after the makers approached Dhoni to be the brand ambassador for their product. But, Dhoni saw an opportunity in there and took it. He suggested to be the image representative of the organisation and possess the footwear side of the company.
MAHI RACING TEAM INDIA
Mahi has always been rightly known as the connoisseur of fitness. Apart from cricket, Dhoni is known to be gaga over bicycles and racing fo the same. His passion and love have been so strong that it pushed him to claim and own a group in Supersport World Championship. He, however, is not the sole successor of the same. He shares the ownership of the group with screen entertainer Akkineni Nagarjuna. Both of them are due to a certain revenue amount from the earnings in reason to that.
A lover of sports, Dhoni is in the mission to conquer almost every field possible to. Recently, he signed up for the Ranchi based hockey group. The team is named as Ranchi Rays. In this league that revolves around hockey, teams would compete against each other and only would emerge victoriously. It is pretty similar to IPL and ISL but in terms of hockey. We hope Dhoni’s team shines and helps him grow in the sector. Currently, Dhoni’s team has been performing exceptionally well and we hope that it keeps up the way.
Dhoni, very soon after his biopic realised that he would love to own a sphere in the sector of entertainment and media. This is because he realised the investment and profit ratio in the base of this sector deals in crores and that is what he was looking forward to. He did not miss out on any time and entered a drawn and extended agreement with Banijay Asia which is quite a popular creation house. Thus his entertainment house came out with the excursion debut called Roar Of The Lion and was an immediate hit.
Dhoni has always been associated with Chennai and has a special place for the same in his hear. Apart from that, he has always been very clear and open about his mad obsession with the game that is football. Football has always been close to Dhoni’s heart. Thus, even though he ventured into the land of cricket he could never completely eradicate it from his heart. That is why when he saw an opportunity he grabbed it. Dhoni owns a part of the Indian Super League team, Chennayin FC. However, he is not the only one in the possession of a team. Current Indian cricket captain, Virat Kohli, possesses Goa FC.
Being an ardent follower of fitness and sports, Dhoni spends most of his time at gym wither self-training or practising. Even though it is not needed at this point, he has developed a habit out of this. The love for the same is so big that he owns around 200 recreation centres all over India under the name SportsFit World Pvt. Ltd. He believes that recreation centres are the new hype that is gonna break records. To be very honest, we do see that happening. It is just a matter of time.
Dhoni did try to venture into the industry of hotels and lodgings but did not succeed much there. He did start with a Hotel Mahi Residency which is a stand-alone in with only one branch in Jharkhand. Dhoni has not however upgraded and made much from this sector yet. He probably is waiting for the right time to go ahead and expand his business in this industry. Mahi is only waiting to strike when the iron gets hot.
Apart from his investments in varied sectors that have brought him prominence, visibility, money, fame and much more, it is not his only source of income. Alongside his contemporary ideals, he has a long list of ad agencies following him that are offering in lakhs to make him the brand ambassador till now. Not to forget he has done till now many advertisements and also has contracts with most of them. To state a few that have marked grand and high with Dhoni as face are quite in numbers. Out of the long list, a few areas Star, GoDaddy, Snickers, Videocon, Orient Electric, NetMeds, Bose, Pepsi and Dream11. Out of these, there are quite a few that have renewed their contracts thus putting Mahi already in the path of endless cash inflow.
Thus, as per the Board Of Control For Cricket In India, the small amount of five crores does not matter in front of the million investments that Dhoni has already been assigned to. The man did plan his moves.
