Recently, the Centre for Science and Environment released a report, which was titled as State of India’s Environment in Figures 2021.
For the unversed, we should tell you that the EOL index was first launched in 2018 and relies on indicators encompassing 15 evaluation criteria, which involves economy, affordable housing, identity, and culture, assured water supply, public open spaces, wastewater management, power, health, land use planning, safety and security, education, governance, quality of the environment, transportation and mobility, and solid waste management. Based on this information every year they release a list of the top 10 Indian cities to live in.
Bengaluru bagged the top spot in the list of top Indian cities to live in. Well, as per the index released by the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Bengaluru has emerged out to be the top Indian city to live in, with a population of over a million.
“Bengaluru emerged as the top performer in the Million+ category [in category of ‘population more than million], followed by Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Surat, Navi Mumbai, Coimbatore, Vadodara, Indore, and Greater Mumbai,” the ministry said
Followed by Bengaluru, Pune and Ahmedabad bagged the second and third-ranking on the list. Surprisingly, New Delhi is not even on the list of the top 10 Indian cities.
