Rapes in India is one of the most common crime. Every other day we hear horrible news and stories of girls and women getting raped, from infants to old women, these rapists have no hearts in their chest. Cases like rapes or sexual abuse or domestic violence leaves a lifetime imprint on the victim’s life.

The news of rapes and sexual assaults leaves us devastated, even the horrifying rape scenes in the movies never fails to bring the shit out of us. Our actresses have to enact such scenes with full emotions, which leaves them very disturbed from inside.

Recently, in the round table conversation with Rajiv Masand, our Bollywood actresses Alia Bhatt, Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor opened up about their experience of shooting rape and molestation scenes. While Vidya Balan and Radhika Apte listened to their experience.

Anushka Sharma, the Producer and leading actress of NH10, went into depression after her molestation scene in the movie, she confessed:

“I was in depression when I did the scene of being molested in NH10. But at that time, you want it to be real. Especially in films like NH10, where you do not know where the camera is, you have to make it look realistic.”

In the movie, Anushka Sharma’s character was chased down by some goons in Delhi. The goons brutally harassed her, traumatized her, abused her. Anushka Sharma added:

That time I was fine but I was emotionally very low for the next two days… Being punched, kicked in stomach and all that, I was just thinking how humans can be this way. We aren’t exposed to so much in life other than reading in newspaper. But to shoot such scenes are extremely traumatizing.”

Alia Bhatt also opened up about her experience while shooting for the gang-rape scenes from the movie, Udta Punjab. She said:

“On the set, you want to be like technical about it. ‘Haan you come here, then this happens, then we’ll do that and I’ll scream and…’ So the face is all ‘Yeah, I’m with it, I’m okay with it because I’m acting’. But actually what’s happening inside is ‘I want this scene to get over. I just want this whole thing to get over.”

Alia Bhatt’s powerful performance in the movie, Udta Punjab was widely loved and appreciated. But no one knew that she feared to go on the sets during the time of the filming of these scenes, she said:

“This has never happened to me but I used to dread that walk every day while getting out of my room and I used to love the walk every day when I’d be coming back to my room. Even though I love my work, it was weird to be in such a situation but what was even more weird was to pretend to be cool on set.”

Sonam Kapoor also opened up about her experience, but her experience was not related to movie scene but instead it was her personal experience. Yes, the actress suffered from sexual abuse when she was only 14-years ol. Here’s what she said:

“There was a man who came from behind and just held my breasts like that. And obviously, I didn’t have breasts at that time. I started shaking and shivering and I didn’t know what was going on and I started crying right there. I didn’t speak about it. I just sat there and I finished watching the film because I felt that I’d done something wrong for the longest time”.

Our heart goes out to these actresses and all those women who have to face this horrible pain in real life. We really wish that no woman goes through this pain in real life.
