Barring the movies and events which Bollywood celebrities are a part of, their big fat purses are also buoyed by a titanic amount of money that they cop from adverts in the B-town. From iconic clothing brands to fairness companies, they all have a celebrity leading from the front.
However, there are times when celebrities also stand up against a few adverts which according to them are against their moral convention and they refuse to be a part of the same. In this story, we will be looking at those actors and actresses who chose to snub an advert because it didn’t really sit well with them in the first place.
- Sai Pallavi
The South Indian actress took very little time to say no to an advert that was promoting a Rs 2 crores ad for a fairness product. According to her, she was not willing to promote products that peddled low self-esteem in people.
- Akshay Kumar
Akshay Kumar is deemed as one of the icons of fitness and he always tends to promulgate fitness amongst his fans. He maintains a healthy routine that includes sleeping early and waking up early, snubbing drinks, and smoking. Hence, he took no time in snubbing a lucrative advert for pan masala.
- Amitabh Bachchan
The Shahenshah of Bollywood was moved by the question of a little girl who asked him that why would he endorse a soft drink if it is surmised to be toxic. This question from the kid left him moved and he stopped endorsing these adverts in the offing and even asked others to follow suit.
- Aamir Khan
It is very hard to spot Aamir Khan in a brand endorsement. He is extremely meticulous when it comes to promoting a brand because of his ethics. He is mostly seen in state-run adverts like water conservation, eradication of Polio, etc.
- John Abraham
Being a fitness enthusiast, John has a moral code of abstaining from alcohol or tobacco. He has a stringent policy about the fact that he should not be approached with any adverts for alcohol or tobacco.
- Ranbir Kapoor
Being of a fair complexion, Ranbir always believed that acting in an advert for fairness creams would be like downright cheating of his fans. That is exactly why he chose not to promote any fairness creams.
- Kangana Ranaut
Like Ranbir Kapoor, Kangana Ranaut is also hellbent on the fact that she will not be promoting fairness creams. In fact, before taking up an advert, she runs a thorough background check of a product.
Again, despite a few actors saying no to certain products being promulgated, others have come up to fill in the void. It is once again not a felony to be honest but a difference in moral opinions and also at the end of the day making money. One cannot really indict someone for endorsements that other actors wouldn’t step up for.
