Abhay Deol Exposed How Nepotism Rules Bollywood’s Award Shows

Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide has opened a new chapter of Bollywood that has been making shocking revelations of what the non-star actors from the “outside” have to face every day. Getting rejected from movies, termination of contracts, bullied at award shows, no recognition, these are just some of the miserable part of politics on the surface. What goes around on the inside is even sadder to even realize that the industry has been crediting power over art.

The rebellious moves of bringing out the cheap dynamics of the corrupted set of legacies of Bollywood were taken up by Kangana who openly fired at those corrupted names. Soon after that actor Abhay Deol too joined the parade to unfold yet another act of favoritism and nepotism that he had faced.

He posted a picture from Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and captioned it as:

“Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara”, released in 2011. Need to chant this title to myself everyday nowadays! Also a great watch when anxious or stressed. I would like to mention that almost all the award functions demoted me and Farhan from main leads, and nominated us as “supporting actors”. Hrithik and Katrina were nominated as “actors in a leading role”. So by the industry’s own logic, this was a film about a man and a woman falling in love, with the man supported by his friends for whatever decisions he takes. There are many covert and overt ways in which people in the industry lobby against you. In this case, it was shamelessly overt. I of course boycotted the awards but Farhan was ok with it. #familyfareawards Very creative artwork @kalakkii

Now for obvious reasons we know why Farhan was absolutely fine. Maybe he was channeling his inner brat that anyway he got his share of the money being it was a movie coming from his family. As for Katrina, being an outsider she made her way up by clinging on to the goon of the industry, Salman Khan, and his family.

Abhay grief is justified. The film had all the male characters in equal parts. All three of them had stories to tell of their own. In no way, his character or Farhan Akhtar’s character for that matter were supporting roles.

Abhay Deol was last seen playing the smooth con man called Artist in Netflix Originals movie ‘Chopsticks’. With ‘Mahadev’he made his tamil debut in 2019. After that he was seen in Zee5’s “Line of Descent”.

He has now debuted as a producer with “What are the Odds”
