Earning a livelihood through food delivery services presents considerable challenges. Recently, a Twitter user encountered a distraught Zomato delivery person who claimed his Zomato account had been suspended, just before his sister’s wedding.
Soham Bhattacharya, the Twitter user, shared a photo of the emotional encounter, stating,
“He was sobbing like anything near GTB Nagar, going to everyone and asking for some money. He told me he didn’t eat anything, saving it all for her wedding.”
Bhattacharya further revealed that the man resorted to working for Rapido after his Zomato account was blocked. He appealed to others to assist the delivery person by sharing his account’s QR code.

As of now, there have been no updates regarding the issue from either Zomato or Soham Bhattacharya.
Commenters criticized Zomato for placing its delivery partners in challenging predicaments. One user emphasized the importance of unblocking the delivery person’s account, highlighting the daily struggles faced by the working class. Another urged Zomato to implement better policies, pointing out that this incident sheds light on a systemic issue.
Please unblock his account @zomato, working class is the backbone of our society & economy. They earn money for their survival first, that's their everyday struggle. They don't have enough money at their disposal to lead a carefree life. How can somebody live without money? https://t.co/uIomLsaA2t

it’s so sad to see that this is probably happening on the daily, riders getting blocked and they have no reason why or how to reverse this action@zomato should be doing a lot better considering they’ve becoming a mammoth in employment at this rate, riders need more support. https://t.co/a8DwqyMHRk

Delivery workers have previously protested against companies like Swiggy and Zomato due to exploitative practices, such as low wages and unjust penalties. Failure to comply with opaque policies or meet demanding targets often leads to Zomato blocking a delivery person’s account, rendering them unable to work for the company.
