Anurag Kashyap, a prominent filmmaker renowned for his gritty and realistic cinema such as Gangs of Wasseypur and Dev D, has announced a significant shift in his approach. Known for his support of newcomers in the industry, Kashyap expressed frustration with those who fail to capitalize on his guidance. Taking to social media, he declared his decision to institute charges for his time.
In a lengthy Instagram post, Anurag Kashyap expressed his exasperation at spending valuable time on individuals who fail to deliver creatively.
He stated,
“I wasted a lot of time trying to help newcomers and mostly ended up with mediocre shit. So, now on, I don’t want to waste my time meeting random people who think they’re creative geniuses. So I will now have rates. If someone wants to meet me for 10-15 minutes I will charge 1 lac, for half hour 2 lacs and for 1 hour 5 lacs.”
Under this new system, Kashyap outlined charges of 1 lakh for a 10-15 minute meeting, 2 lakhs for a half-hour session, and 5 lakhs for an hour-long consultation.

This declaration stirred mixed reactions among netizens. Notably, Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah humorously remarked her intention to forward the rate card to those inundating her with scripts for her father. Others quipped about the escalating prices, drawing comparisons to the extravagant charges of a personality known as Orry.
Anurag Kashyap’s daughter Aaliyah commented, “Forwarding this to everyone in my dms and email who keep sending me scripts to forward to you…”
Another wrote, “Sir 1000rs mein 6sec mil lijiye..” ( Can we get six seconds in 1000 Rs)
The next one wrote, “Orry se training le lee kya vo maangta hai photo ke paise..” ( Has Orry trained you, he charges to take photos).
Orry, a figure known for his lucrative endeavors in the realm of personal appearances and photography, recently made headlines for his substantial earnings. Revealing his fees for attending events and posing for photographs, Orry’s rates soared to 30 lakhs per occasion. His candid admission of orchestrating paparazzi attention further fueled discussions about the commercialization of fame.
While Kashyap’s decision to monetize his time may have been influenced by Orry’s unapologetic pursuit of profit, it underscores broader shifts within the entertainment industry. As both veterans and newcomers navigate evolving landscapes, the commodification of talent and time becomes increasingly pronounced.
