Train travel in India often lacks comfort, with overcrowding emerging as a significant concern among passengers. Packed AC coaches and instances of ticketless travelers only compound the frustration. Frequently, passengers take to social media to air their grievances, and a recent viral video captured one such instance where a woman confronted a Travelling Ticket Examiner (TTE) about the overcrowded conditions.
The video, shared widely online, depicts a woman passenger aboard the 22969 OKHA BSBS SF EXP (Okha to Kanpur Central) train, expressing her discontent with the cramped conditions.
She highlights the discomfort experienced by passengers, particularly women, amidst the overcrowding. The lack of space within the coach, making it difficult to even move around or access basic amenities like restrooms, forms the crux of her complaint.
In the video posted on Twitter by user @mshahi0024, the woman’s plea for assistance is met with a surprising response from the TTE. Rather than offering a solution, the TTE, positioned at the train’s gate, deflects responsibility, stating that he lacks the authority of a Railways Minister to address the issue.
“I cannot do anything in this matter. I cannot make extra trains run as I am not the Railways Minister.”
This response leaves the woman visibly frustrated, as she accuses him of prioritizing his own safety over that of passengers, especially women.

The video sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with some criticizing the TTE’s dismissive attitude and others acknowledging the systemic challenges beyond his control.
The true state of Indian Railways! Nothing, absolutely nothing has been done by Modi Government for railways in the last 10 years for passengers convenience. And people who will say Vande Bharat- that's a shatabdi turned fancy dabba with high prices that India can't afford!

Govt. must do something on this front also.
Either increase train coaches/capacity or strictly prevent the unauthorized individuals to enter reserved coaches.— Desh mein kuch bhi (@deshMeinkuchbhi) April 13, 2024
Glad that TC didn't give her any special privileges. Men don't get any why should women get then
