Kangana Ranaut, amidst her decision to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha Elections from her hometown Mandi after joining the BJP, faced criticism suggesting her political move stemmed from her recent setbacks at the box office. Disputing this notion, the actress asserts her enduring relevance in the film industry.
At the Times Now Submit 2024 event, Kangana Ranaut addressed the critique by drawing parallels between her career trajectory and that of SRK.
She highlighted SRK’s decade-long dry spell before the success of “Pathaan” and her own revival with “Queen” after a similar hiatus. She dubbed herself and Shah Rukh Khan as the ‘last generation of stars’, questioning the ability of OTT platforms to nurture new stars.
”No one in the whole world faces such situations. Shah Rukh Khan had no successful films for 10 years, then Pathaan worked,”
”I had no successful films for 7-8 years, then Queen worked, followed by Manikarnika in 3-4 years. Even now, there might be a very successful hit. Nowadays, this doesn’t happen”
“When I had the option to build a home anywhere in the world I ended up choosing Manali. That’s why today I’m very happy that my people called me back.” pic.twitter.com/0Lk3WrKgeT

Ranaut emphasized their enduring appeal, stating they remain in high demand by audiences. However, she expressed a desire to engage beyond the confines of showbiz and immerse herself in real-world issues.
”We are known faces, by the grace of god we are very much in demand. So, it’s not like that but like you said, I want to involve myself in the real world as opposed to just being consumed by the field of art”.
Dear Supriya ji
In the last 20 years of my career as an artist I have played all kinds of women. In addition to her political endeavors, Ranaut is gearing up for the release of “Emergency,” a political thriller where she portrays former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
