During the IPL 2024 encounter between Gujarat Titans and Delhi Capitals on April 17, Shubman Gill’s squad suffered a significant six-wicket loss. Gill himself managed just eight runs before GT was dismissed for a mere 89 runs. The Delhi Capitals effortlessly chased the target, securing victory with over 11 overs to spare.
Amidst the game’s intensity, a moment caught on camera that depicted Shubman Gill seemingly enchanted by a female spectator, adding a light-hearted moment to GT’s challenging performance at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The intriguing aspect is that earlier in the match, the same fangirl had garnered attention from numerous cricket enthusiasts, with some noting her uncanny resemblance to Cuban-based Hollywood actress Ana de Armas.

Meanwhile, post-match, Shubman Gill conveyed his disappointment over the defeat.
Gill refrained from attributing the loss to the pitch, instead citing his team’s poor shot selections as the cause for their downfall. He stated,
Our batting performance was very average,” Gill, who was out for 8, said at the post-match presentation. “I think the wicket was alright, to be honest. If you see our dismissals, the ball I got out to had nothing to do with the pitch. Even the way Wriddhi [Wriddhiman Saha] bhai got out had nothing to do with the pitch, and Sai [Sudharsan] got run out. So I don’t think it had anything to do with the pitch. Just a bad batting performance and poor shot selection, I would say.”
This marked the second occasion in the IPL when GT’s batting lineup struggled. Earlier, they were bowled out for 130 runs while pursuing a target of 164 against LSG. Gill conveyed his dismay, highlighting that the meager total deprived their bowlers of a chance to influence the game. He remarked:
“When the opposition are chasing 89, unless someone takes a double hat-trick, the opposition will always be in the game.”
“This is just the halfway mark of the season for us, we have won 3 and hopefully we win another 5-6 from the next 7 like in the last couple of years”.
