Kangana Ranaut’s assertion that Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was ‘India’s first Prime Minister’, coupled with her claim that India truly gained independence only after Narendra Modi assumed office in 2014, has sparked a flurry of reactions online. Her statement are going viral at the speed of light.
She said,
“Pehle mujhe ye baat aaj clear karne dijiye. Jab hume azaadi mili toh the first Prime Minister of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, woh kahan gae? (Let me clear this first. When we gained independence, where did the first Prime Minister of India, Subhash Chandra Bose, go)” When the host reminded her that Bose was not the Prime Minister of India, Kangana floated a theory. “He wasn’t, but why? Where did he go? How was he made to disappear?” She said that SC Bose fought Japan, Germany for India’s independence but was not allowed to land in India.
Kangana Ranaut, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for the Mandi constituency in Himachal Pradesh, made these remarks during a televised interview, prompting a wave of commentary on social media platforms.
Critics swiftly questioned the accuracy of her historical assertions, with one individual sarcastically remarking that Ranaut’s intelligence quotient (IQ) must be in question for making such statements.

Swati Maliwal, former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, advocated for voting in favor of educated and sensible candidates, indirectly referencing Ranaut’s comments.
On the X platform, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Vinay Mishra took a jab at Ranaut, labeling her as a “graduate in Quantum History”, suggesting a lack of scholarly rigor in her statements.
Despite the criticism, some defended Ranaut, lauding her purported knowledge. Meanwhile, Congress leader Supriya Shrinate cautioned against underestimating Ranaut’s influence within the BJP.
Kangana Ranaut’s political involvement has not been without controversy. She has previously clashed with Congress leaders, and Shrinate herself faced backlash for derogatory remarks made against Ranaut. Following a social media outcry, Shrinate distanced herself from the comments, claiming they were made by someone else with access to her accounts.
Kangana Ranaut’s political aspirations became apparent when she was named among the BJP’s candidates for the Lok Sabha elections. In an Instagram post, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent her birthplace, Mandi, and pledged her commitment to serving the party faithfully.
Ranaut’s foray into politics continues to generate discussion and debate, underscoring the intersection between celebrity, ideology, and governance in contemporary Indian politics.
