Ellyse Perry has been a standout performer for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Women’s Premier League (WPL), playing a pivotal role in their journey to the massive victory in the tournament.
Despite a disappointing debut season last year, RCB has defied expectations to become the winner of WPL 2024, largely thanks to Perry’s exceptional contributions with bat and ball.
Her recent displays, particularly against reigning champions Mumbai Indians, not only secured RCB’s final spot but also eliminated MI from the tournament. Ellyse Perry’s stellar performance in the last league match, where she claimed 6 wickets for 15 runs and scored an unbeaten 40, followed by her impactful showing in the Eliminator, solidified RCB’s huge victory.
As Perry garners widespread attention for her on-field heroics, an old interview clip from 2020 resurfaced on social media. In the interview, Ellyse Perry was asked about her reaction to Murali Vijay expressing a desire to have dinner with her post-lockdown.
“Murali Vijay, in an interview was asked, if after the lockdown there were two people he would want to go on dinner with would it be? He said Shikhar Dhawan, one of his teammates, and you. What would you respond to that?” said the anchor.
Responding with wit and charm, Perry jokingly remarked,
“I hope he is paying if that’s the case. That’s very kind of him. I am very flattered.”

Expressing her excitement after RCB’s victory over MI in the Eliminator, Perry lauded her team’s resilience and performance throughout the season. Reflecting on the team’s journey from a disappointing previous season to the final, Perry commended her teammates’ unity and determination.
“We were ecstatic to have had the opportunity to be in the final. To have defended a low total like that was awesome. The girls kept calm, and there was a pretty awesome performance from the spinners at the end. You had to take the opportunity when it came. It was nice for me in the last couple of games; it had fallen my way,” said Ellyse Perry.
“The way we stayed calm against such a good side was exceptional. The way the girls had come together after last season, and we had really enjoyed each other’s company on the field and off it. Overall, we had hung in there, the girls kept contributing, the old adage of runs on the board in a big game held true, I suppose, and it did that night. We couldn’t wait for the final,”
she added.
