In a heart-wrenching incident, a young girl tragically lost her life shortly after consuming a cake ordered online for her birthday celebration. The devastating episode unfolded last week when 10-year-old Manvi was captured in a widely circulated video cutting her birthday cake surrounded by her family. However, within a few hours of indulging in the cake, the entire family, including her younger sister, fell severely ill.
The cake, procured from ‘Cake Kanha,’ a bakery situated in Patiala, was the center of the unfortunate incident.
According to Manvi’s grandfather, Harban Lal, she sliced the cake around 7 pm on March 24, as depicted in the viral video where the young victim was joyfully engaged in the celebration.
Lal recounted that soon after consuming the cake, Manvi’s 8-year-old sister began vomiting, while Manvi herself displayed symptoms of foaming at the mouth. Around 2 am, she expressed an intense thirst and then retired to bed. However, when her family checked on her at 4 am, they were alarmed to find her body cold. Rushing her to the hospital, she was immediately attended to, yet tragically declared deceased shortly after, despite medical intervention.
Food safety here is a joke in the entire India. You will be surprised to know that people are running 20 different “restaurants” in 1RK as cloud kitchens listed over food-delivering apps. You have no idea how many mice and cockroaches were around the food you just ordered. And… https://t.co/vC6Marr2zH

As reported by NDTV, the family has leveled accusations that the chocolate cake contained a poisonous substance. Consequently, an FIR has been lodged against the bakery owner, invoking sections 273 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code. Lal disclosed that postmortem procedures have been carried out, and samples from the cake have been dispatched for analysis, with pending reports awaiting further clarity on the matter.
The Punjab Police have initiated investigations based on the filed complaint, with additional actions slated to unfold following the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) report.
