Recently, the mini-auction for IPL 2023 was held and the Hyderabad franchise had the biggest purse heading into the same. The franchise, however, had released Kane Williamson from the squad because of his poor form. Now it was in a need of a skipper to lead for the next season.
They didn’t bid for Kane Williamson at the auction, and there’s nothing to be surprised about as it was anticipated earlier because of his poor form. The Sunrisers went for Mayank Agarwal, which was pretty much on the expected lines. He will open the innings and could be a dependable option for captaincy.
The most interesting and surprising bid, however, came in the form of Harry Brook. England’s rising star has been breaking records in international cricket for quite a long time.
The Orange army was in need of some firepower in the middle order, and they didn’t think twice before spending a huge sum of money for the England batter. The franchise’s owner, Kavya Maran raised a bid for Brook and she was in no mood to hand over the English batter to some other franchise.
SRH was engaged in a bidding war with a couple of other franchises and, eventually, bought him for a whopping sum of 13.5 crores. Netizens came up with numerous reactions following Brook’s purchase.

Apart from Brook and Agarwal, SRH also bought the services of Heinrich Klaasen for the wicket-keeping option. They were also in a need of a wrist spinner and got in the form of Adil Rashid. The English spinner had a great time at the 20-20 World Cup and it will be interesting to see how he fares in the 2023 season.
Sunrisers bid for as many as 13 players and they managed to buy 12 out of them. Who will lead the side in the upcoming edition is yet to be known.
