Athiya Shetty, the daughter of actor Suniel Shetty, married her longtime lover, cricket player KL Rahul, on Monday. The ceremony was held at the Khandala farmhouse that belongs to Suniel. However, a few days after the wedding, the internet was flooded with tales about the wedding presents the couple had received. The actor from Hera Pheri has now called the rumors “baseless.”
The newlyweds reportedly received an apartment, high-end automobiles, and jewellery as wedding presents. Suniel’s representative shot off the rumours when contacted by indianexpress.com.
He said,
“There is no truth to any of the stories that have been written about the gifts. We ask the press to check with us before putting out the wrong information.”
Preparations for the wedding of Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul started on Saturday. The sangeet ceremony and cocktail party was held on a Sunday evening, and invited guests included immediate and extended family members. Suniel Shetty spoke to the press on Monday after the wedding.
The actor said that when the IPL season ends on June 1, they would be throwing a wedding celebration for Athiya Shetty and KL Rahul.
Suniel said that he was very happy about the wedding. “It was lovely. It was very small, and only very close family members were there (everything went well). Shaadi hogayi hai, father-in-law ban gaya hu officially. I’m a father, and I don’t want to deal with my in-laws’ problems. I’m a great parent, and I want to be one,” he said.
