Recently, Dil Chahta Hai Actress Sonali Kulkarni’s remarks for women initiated a controversy after her intended feminist thoughts were tagged regressive by celebrities and Netizens.
After a series of backlash, Sonali has finally broken her silence and issued an apology to people who were hurt by her strong thoughts.
While attending an event, Sonali expressed her image of an Indian woman.
She said,
“Bharat mai bahut saari ladkiyaan aalsi hai, unko aisa boyfriend chahiye ya pati chahiye, jiske pass achi naukri ho, jiske pass ghar ho, jisko assurance ho ki usko increment milega hi milega, par us ladki mai itni himmat nhi hai ki who keh paaye ki mai kya karungi jab tum mujhse shaadi karoge.”
I don't know who she is but hats off to her courage to speak the unspoken unpalatable truth! 👏#Equality pic.twitter.com/vB2zwZerul

When things went out of hand Sonali shared a long note on Twitter and clarified her point of view with an intention of apology.
She wrote on Twitter,
“….Being a woman myself, my intention was not to hurt other women. In fact, I have extensively expressed myself time and again in support of us and what is it to be a woman. I’m grateful to all of you for reaching out to me personally to appreciate or to criticize….”
“In my capacity, I am trying to think, support and share warmth not only with women but with the entire mankind. It will be only strengthening if we women with our vulnerabilities and wisdom shine through as fair and able beings. If we are inclusive and empathetic, we will be able to create a healthier, happier place to be.”
Sonali concluded by saying,
“Having said that, if unknowingly, I may have caused pain, I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart. I do not thrive upon headlines neither do I want to be the centre of sensational situations. I’m a diehard optimist and I strongly believe that life indeed is beautiful. Thanks for your patience and support. I have learned a lot from this incident.”

Social media sensation Uorfi Javed also slammed Kulkarni for being insensitive and ‘too entitled’.
Javed tweeted,
“How insensitive, whatever you said! You’re calling modern-day women lazy when they are handling their work as well as household chores together? What’s wrong in wanting a husband who’s earning good? Men for centuries only saw women as child vending machines and yes the main reason for marriage – a dowry. Ladies don’t be afraid to ask or demand.”

“Yes you’re right women should work but that’s a privilege that not everyone gets. You’re too entitled to see that maybe.”
She said it about some girls not all modern women. Don't take her views in general for all women.
