Taapsee Pannu’s outfit during Lakme Fashion Week 2023 has become the talk of the town. On Saturday, the actress walked the ramp in a shimmery red gown. Her embroidered gown was encrusted with sequins. She highlighted her overall look with a broad golden necklace.
She went for minimal makeup for the glam and kept her curly hair open.
When she posted the photo on Instagram, celebs liked her new look, but netizens are infuriated. Why?
Netizens saw the intrinsically carved Goddess Lakshmi pattern on the gold necklace she wore and felt she shouldn’t have worn it with such a skin-bearing outfit. Many started moral policing the ‘Thapad’ actress for being ‘insensitive’ and pairing a goddess necklace with a revealing outfit.
One comment on Taapsee’s post read: Shame on tapsee totally disgusting kisi bhi religion k symbols ko aap kese represent karte ho yeh aapko as a celebrity pata hona chahiye.

Meanwhile, on the work front, Taapsee will be seen starring opposite Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Dunki’.
It is helmed by Rajkumar Hirani. Backed by JIO Studios, Red Chillies Entertainment and Rajkumar Hirani Films, Dunki is set to release in theatres on December 22, 2023. Abhijaat Joshi and Kanika Dhillon wrote the script.
She also has ‘Haseen Dillruba 2’ lined up for the release. The sequel will star Vikrant Massey and Sunny Kaushal as well.
Jayprasad Desai will direct the second part.
