As we all know, Rishabh Pant met with a road accident on 30th December 2022 while he was driving from Delhi to his hometown Roorkee.
His car crashed into a divider and then caught fire. Fortunately, the cricketer managed to get out of the car as he broke the window but got severely injured. He was receiving treatment at the Max Hospital in Dehradun until the BCCI airlifted him to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Hospital recently.
The young cricketer and India’s wicket-keeper batsman is likely to miss the Border-Gavaskar series which is scheduled to be played against Australia this year.
And now, Indian Premier League’s (IPL) franchise’s new director and former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly have confirmed that Rishabh Pant won’t be able to play this season as his injuries will need quite some time to fully heal and recover.
However, Rishabh Pant absence will not harm his earnings as he will be paid Rs 16 crore as IPL fees and BCCI will also pay him Rs 5 crore as part of the contract.
The wicket-keeper batsman will miss the ODI World Cup and the Asia Cup which are scheduled to be played in 2023 only.
Moreover, the IPL fees will not be paid by the franchise as the insurance company is going to cover them. BCCI has a rule which says that if any player is not able to play IPL due to unavoidable reasons, he will be paid the full amount despite his absence in the tournament.
