Jawan actress Ridhi Dogra has found herself in the crossfire of online criticism after expressing her admiration for Ranbir Kapoor’s recent release, Animal.
While the film has been well-received by audiences and achieved significant box-office success, it has also faced backlash for allegedly glorifying toxic masculinity. Ridhi, however, did not shy away from responding to trolls on social media who targeted her for supporting the controversial film.
On a recent post, Ridhi shared her enthusiasm for Animal, stating,
“Tripping on this! What a film. Anyone who feels triggered should respect their feelings and not watch the film. Because this film has deeper meanings about attachments & consequences, a triggered heart won’t be able to take it.”

In response, trolls criticized Ridhi’s endorsement, with one commenter expressing discomfort with women approving of the film. Ridhi fired back, saying,
“The first act of any change is acceptance. First, the good people of the country should accept the problematic things that are quite prevalent in society and when you see it in cinema, with sensibility, may we use it as a lens to change that in people who behave this way around us.”
Another troll’s comment led Ridhi to emphasize the importance of men reflecting on their behavior, stating, “And as a woman, I’d say it’s important that men too get to see themselves and how they behave and this uprising in people is the point of it all. Or not. I don’t know. But conversations r happening and that matters.”
Animal, released on December 1, 2023, has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark at the global box office, despite the controversies surrounding its themes.
