Renowned for his charismatic presence on screen, Emraan Hashmi recently shared a fascinating revelation about a pivotal proposal scene from one of his movies, which mirrored his own romantic journey with his wife, Parveen Shahani.
Emraan Hashmi, recognized for his suave persona in the film industry, has often been associated with romantic roles, earning him the moniker of ‘Bollywood’s serial kisser’. While his on-screen portrayals and tender gestures have resonated with audiences, his latest revelation sheds light on the profound connection between a memorable proposal scene and his real-life relationship with Parveen Shahani.
In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Emraan Hashmi delved into the significance behind the iconic proposal sequence in the 2008 blockbuster, ‘Jannat’. Recalling the film’s ‘no car, no love’ policy, Hashmi revealed that the scene held personal resonance as it echoed his own romantic aspirations.
Following a long-awaited dream of owning a car, Hashmi seized the moment to propose to his beloved, portrayed by Sonal Chauhan in the film, using a Honda Accord, a vehicle that held sentimental value in his real life. Reflecting on this parallel, Hashmi shared,
“The famous proposal scene, ‘No car, no pyaar,’ which keeps trending on Instagram, is a special one. The Honda Accord was my dream car, and I wanted to impress my girlfriend. In the film too, what you see is my car, which my character uses to propose to Sonal’s character. This is something I keep seeing on Instagram.”
Emraan reminisced about his wife’s initial reaction to his intimate scenes in films, particularly recalling her visceral response during the screening of his breakthrough film, ‘Murder’, in 2004. Amidst candid revelations about navigating the complexities of his profession and personal life, Hashmi shared insights into the dynamics of his relationship with Parveen Shahani, highlighting their mutual understanding and a lighthearted agreement that underscores their bond.
In the first seat my wife is digging her nails into my hand like ‘what the hell have you done and you haven’t prepared me for this and what are you doing because this is not Bollywood’. When the hands came off, there were four jabs… I was injured…I was bleeding.”
Later in the discussion, Emraan candidly disclosed his approach to handling and persuading his wife, Parveen, regarding his onscreen intimate scenes with other actresses. While acknowledging that she now comprehends it as an integral facet of his profession, he also shed light on an arrangement they mutually agreed upon, stating:
“Right now there is a deal that we have…The deal is I take her shopping and she probably swipes the card close to seven-digit numbers.”
As Emraan Hashmi continues to captivate audiences with his on-screen charisma, his personal anecdotes offer a glimpse into the intersection of reel and real life, resonating with fans and admirers alike.
