Producer Ekta Kapoor is the latest star to respond to Radhika Madan’s criticism of the television industry’s work ethic. Actress Sayantani Ghosh was the first. Radhika’s remarks were “sad and humiliating,” according to Ekta.
Ekta reposted a video of Sayantani commenting on Radhika’s statement. She wrote with it, “Sad and shameful actors have no respect for their roots Kudos @sayantanighosh0609.”
In a recent interview, Radhika discussed her time spent working as a TV actress, when she put in shifts of 48 to 50 hours. She said whenever she asked for the script, she was told, “Aap set pe chalo, script garma garam aa rahi hai (You just reach the sets, script will be freshly printed)”.
Radhika Madan’s criticism of the TV industry attracted responses from all corners.
She said that, back in the day, directors often made last-minute changes and brought whoever was available to the set. Radhika said that the director always promised her that any suggestions she made about her character will be considered when the film version of the show was being filmed.
Recently, Sayantani was interviewed by RJ Siddharth Kannan and was questioned about her Instagram reaction to the interview. She said, “We also have Mouni Roy, she is a dear friend of mine, and in the interviews I have listened, there is a certain grace that she began her career from TV, that I didn’t find in Radhika’s clip. She and many others look down upon TV, you shouldn’t do that, I feel. My problem is don’t treat TV as a stepping stone.”
Aasman Bharadwaj’s Kuttey, in which Radhika also starred with Arjun Kapoor and Tabu, was her most recent film release. Ghar Ek Sapnaa and Naagin are only two of Sayantani’s well-known TV shows.
