After the declaration of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024 results on June 4, it is confirmed that the BJP-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) is set to form its third consecutive government at the Centre. Although exit polls predicted a sweeping victory for the NDA, the actual contest was much tighter as the opposition INDIA bloc, led by Congress, put up a strong performance.
The BJP won or was leading in 240 seats, emerging as the single largest party in the 543-member Lok Sabha. BJP candidates campaigned under the banner of Modi. With support from its allies, the BJP-led NDA is on track to achieve the 272-majority mark.
PM Modi remarked that this victory represents the resolve of a ‘Viksit Bharat,’ the principle of ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas,’ and the strong faith of the people in India’s Constitution. He noted that a “new history” has been created, as this is the first time since 1962 that a government completing two full terms has secured a third consecutive term.
After PM Modi’s victory speech at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi, Italian PM Giorgia Meloni extended her warm wishes via social media platform X.
She congratulated Modi on his third consecutive term and expressed her desire to strengthen the friendship and cooperation between Italy and India.
She wrote:
“Congratulations to @narendramodi on the new electoral victory and my warmest wishes for good work. Certain that we will continue to work together to strengthen the friendship that unites Italy and India and consolidate cooperation on the various issues that bind us, for the well-being of our Nations and our people.”
