For the unversed, the video that’s been widely shared shows Aditya Narayan singing the song “Aaj Ki Raat” from the movie “Don.” During his performance, he approaches a fan and tries to take a phone from them. When the fan refuses to give it up, Aditya hits them with the mic, grabs the phone, and throws it into the crowd.
The event manager of the concert explained the incident in an interview with Zoom, saying, “The person was not a college student but someone from outside. He kept bothering Aditya, banging his phone on his feet many times. Aditya lost his temper after that. The concert was going smoothly until then. After this incident, the show continued for almost two hours. If the person was right, he would have come forward.”
The manager also mentioned that other performers like Darshan Rawal have stopped doing college events because of such incidents. Responding to the online criticism Aditya has faced, the manager said, “People only see one side. The person kept hitting and bothering Aditya. What if Aditya had fallen? If the person was right, he would have told the college authorities. I’ve been connected with the college for years, and they’ve never had such a good concert before. They’ve acknowledged this themselves.”
