Ever since the announcement of Bhansali’s project, there has been discontent among Pakistanis, particularly due to the setting of the series in Heeramandi, a real place in Lahore, Pakistan.
Now, with the release of the eight-part web series Heeramandi, numerous Pakistani stars are openly ridiculing it.
Ahmed Ali Butt Labels Bhansali’s Show as “Kheeramandi” Pakistani actor and comedian, Ahmed Ali Butt, went as far as to nickname Bhansali’s creation “Kheeramandi,” a play on words criticizing the series. He also referred to it as a “WONDERFUL VISUAL DISASTER.”
Ken Doll’s Satirical Take on Heeramandi Pakistani model and social media influencer Adnan Zafar, known as Ken Doll, joined in the mockery with a satirical video about the show.
His comedic approach garnered praise from figures like Mathira, a Pakistani model and dancer, and Iqra Aziz, a Pakistani actress.

Umera Ahmed Highlights Inaccuracies Pakistani writer Umera Ahmed pointed out a factual inaccuracy in the series.
He noted that his Urdu novel “Pir-e-Kamil,” published in 2004, was featured in the show despite the series being set in the pre-independence era. Ahmed questioned this on Instagram, raising the issue of timeline inconsistencies.
Criticism Over Urdu Pronunciation Many Pakistani viewers criticized the incorrect Urdu pronunciation in “Heeramandi,” stating that it did not accurately reflect how Urdu is spoken in Pakistan. Indian actor Sheezan Khan also echoed these sentiments, expressing disappointment over the mispronunciations and inconsistencies.
“I’m sorry but the timeline inaccuracies, blatant misrepresentation of Lahore, the endless butchering of Urdu accent, the embellishment of the actual heeramandi…” said another one.
The discontent extends beyond Pakistan, as even Indian actor Sheezan Khan voiced concerns over the handling of Urdu language in the series.
