As we all know, Bollywood has been receiving a lot of backlash for the past year with the Boycott Bollywood trend. One of the recent movies trending on social media with the boycott hashtag is Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited film Pathaan.
Amid numerous actors and filmmakers talking about the controversy, recently Abhay Deol reacted to the same and said in the future we will look back at this and laugh at the whole situation.
In a conversation with a news portal, Abhay said that technology has made information available very fast which also makes disinformation travel fast. He added that
“There is inconsistency everywhere, whether it is the media or people consuming that media.” He believes technology is still new and “in 50 years people will also laugh at the stupidity.”
Speaking about the ongoing ‘Pathaan’ controversy he said,
“It is not something unimaginable. If you look at the world today, it is polarized. If you want to make an issue of something, you can easily do it. It is possible. Many people have done it before and will continue to.”
When asked if he believes in bans and cancel culture? Abhay said,
“It is more nuanced than that. I think banning doesn’t necessarily make it go away. It (the subject) goes underground.”
Meanwhile, Deepika’s saffron bikini in Besharam Rang has led to outrage across the nation with several political parties and social groups threatening that they won’t allow the movie to release.
Many have also urged the makers to remove the whole song from the film.
Recently, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) did not ask the makers to remove the song from the film and cleared the film without any drastic changes.
However, reports have revealed that the makers have decided to stay cautious and remove the song completely for some states.
Pathaan also features Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in lead roles. The film also part of YRF’s spy universe and will hit the big screen on January 25, 2023.
