The Bachchan family, known for their esteemed stature in Bollywood, holds dear certain customs. In the latest episode of What The Hell Navya 2, Shweta Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, and Navya Naveli Nanda shed light on their family’s culinary heritage, offering amusing narratives about their dining preferences.
Navya Naveli Nanda unveils the tradition of naming dishes within her family. During the podcast, Navya revealed that the Bachchan clan has a tradition of christening dishes after the individuals who masterfully prepare them.
She elaborated on the culinary specialties of each family member, highlighting their mutual fondness for aloo chilka. Navya remarked:
“Every house has a specialty and I know something that people love eating at our house – aloo chilka. It’s actually quite cute because we have named certain recipes after people like we have ‘Nani Ma’s khichadi,’ which she makes in a Bengali way. We have ‘Mama Toast’. It’s a sandwich that Nani has invented. You have ‘Navya’s aloo’ because it’s the recipe that I have created. We also have ‘Shweta’s pasta.’ Nana always says, ‘I will eat Shweta’s pasta..”
Jaya Bachchan discloses Amitabh Bachchan’s preference for daughter Shweta’s pasta. Jaya shared that Amitabh Bachchan particularly favors the pasta cooked by their daughter, Shweta. She mentioned that whenever the pasta is on the menu, Big B inquires if Shweta is the one preparing it. In Jaya’s words:
“He (Big B) asks, ‘Is Shweta making the pasta?’ If you say ‘no’, he will ask you to tell Shweta to make it.”
Abhishek Bachchan is the worst cook
Abhishek Bachchan’s culinary skills receive a playful jab. Shweta playfully noted that their son, Agastya, has yet to earn a dish named after him. Jaya added humorously that despite Abhishek’s claims of culinary prowess, she’s yet to sample his supposedly outstanding mutton curry. She quipped:
“Neither does Abhishek. He keeps saying, ‘I make amazing mutton curry,’ but I am yet to see that mutton curry.”
Navya recounts a comical incident involving her cooking. Navya shared a humorous anecdote about her cooking adventure, recounting a time when she attempted to spice up Aglio e Olio pasta for her brother, Agastya, and grandmother, Jaya Bachchan. However, her endeavor resulted in an overly spicy dish that left both her brother and grandmother in tears while consuming it.
