A day before yesterday, fans witnessed a nail-biting thriller at the M Chinnaswamy stadium where Royal Challengers Bangalore faced Mahi Bhai’s Chennai Super Kings.
Crores of people witnessed this special match across the nation as over 400 runs were scored in total during the game.
RCB was about to win the match but MS Dhoni’s world-class captaincy restricted the home team from going past the finishing line. CSK’s opening batsman Devon Conway smashed 83 runs off 45 balls to help put up a massive total of 226 runs on the board in the first innings.
Irfan Pathan compared the New Zealand batsman to Michael Hussey, who was an integral part of CSK’s batting lineup in the 2010 and 2012 IPL seasons.
The former Australian cricketer has now taken charge as the batting coach of the CSK franchise. Team India’s former all-rounder said that Devon Conway bats exactly like Michael Hussey and he has a good field presence. The commentator further added that Conway was adjusting to whichever field positions Faf du Plessis was keeping during the game.
During RCB’s run chase, Glenn Maxwell and skipper Faf du Plessis put up a good partnership that brought the team close to the target; however, Dhoni managed to take away victory from their hands with his captaincy skills. Sunil Gavaskar commented on MS Dhoni’s captaincy as he said that team India’s former skipper never puts his players under pressure; however, sometimes he gives them “some stares” when they miss-field or drop the catches. Otherwise, he is the coolest person on the field in any game.
