In recent times, Indian Railways has become one of the biggest rail networks in the world. Even though it offers a lifeline for many, it is frequently criticized for its limited infrastructure and food services. However, there has been a rising improvement in the services offered by the Indian Railways as a result of the growing need for improved transportation.
While people witness these improvements as in the form of infrastructure, safety, and technological advancements, basic facilities such as clean toilets, waiting rooms, and especially improved food and catering facilities stole the limelight recently.
The catering facilities in Indian Railways have been a constant cause of concern for passengers, with the quality of food being one of the primary issues that was being raised for quite a long time. Over the years, passengers have been dissatisfied with the bad quality, unhygienic conditions, and high costs of the food provided on trains.
However, amidst all these complaints, it is good to know that, over the years, railways have also received a barrage of positive responses for their first-class trains.
And the recent one will definitely leave you surprised because it just surpasses the expectations of numerous Indian railway travelers. Not just netizens, but the minister also can’t stop herself from reacting to it.
A Twitter user praised the quality of food served at Shatabdi Express
Mr. Sinha, a Twitter user, who recently traveled through the Shatabdi Express, recently expressed his happiness over the quality of the food he got on the train. Taking to Twitter, he shared the photo of his plate and captioned it:
Travelled in Shatabdi after a long time & I’m really impressed to see the food quality.. Railway has literally changed a lot in the past 9 years.

His tweet soon went viral and attracted reactions from a lot of people. While many people praised the improvement, others hoped for the same improvement in other trains too.
However, a section of people highlighted that this is not the reality of the whole Indian railway system and that it still needs improvement. Many also claimed that the post might be fake, as many other people also shared the same image from their accounts.
The MOS for railways reacted to the appreciation
In reply to the above-mentioned tweet, Darshana Jardosh, Minister of State for Railways and Textiles, Government of India, wrote,
I am glad you enjoyed the food service in #NayeBharatKiNayiRail.

This is not the first time that Shatabdi Express has been praised for its improved services. Last year, the staff of Shatabdi Express surprised the passenger who was having Roza in the holy month of Ramadan by offering the Iftar meal box.
While it is good to see that the railways and Indian government are trying to improve the railway facilities, there is much more need to improve the catering facilities on the Indian Railways.
