Finally, after a long time, the whole controversy comes to an end as the Tesla chief, Elon Musk is now the owner of Twitter. After the $44 billion acquisition of the social media giant named Twitter that resulted in a lot of drama and controversies, Elon Musk finally took the big step. The billionaire fired the former Chief Executive Officer Parag Agrawal along with numerous other prominent people just after taking over Twitter.
According to reports, the leaders of Twitter Inc. who are asked to leave the company after Musk’s takeover are Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, who joined Twitter in 2017; Vijaya Gadde, the head of legal, policy, and trust; Sean Edgett, the general counsel at Twitter since 2012.
Previously, when co-founder Jack Dorsey resigned unexpectedly Parag Agrawal became the CEO in November. Parag Agrawal had been a part of Twitter for almost a decade. Before serving as a CEO, he was a chief technology officer. Musk’s taking over as a major shareholder disrupted his position. For quite a long time, controversies and confusion regarding leadership were increasing rapidly.
It was anticipated that Parag Agrawal won’t be able to keep his job after the arrival of Musk.
The Twitter debates between Parag and Elon were quite evident. The Tesla chief once revealed that he doesn’t have confidence in the company’s management. Musk tweeted,
“I don’t have confidence in management”
Moreover, when Parag Agrawal defended the company’s user metrics on Twitter, Elon Musk replied with a poop emoji.
Musk even asked his followers if Twitter was “dying.”
Agrawal responded to him via text. He wrote,
“You are free to tweet ‘is Twitter dying?’ or anything else about Twitter” “but it’s my responsibility to tell you that it’s not helping me make Twitter better in the current context.”
To this, Musk shot back and said,
“What did you get done this week?” And then: “I’m not joining the board this is a waste of time.”
Musk even went on to mock Parag in messages with a friend for being on vacation in Hawaii during deal negotiations.
Parag Agrawal to leave Twitter empty-handed?
No, according to Reuters, as part of the deal, the CEO will vest 100% of his unvested equity awards, according to the filing. As estimated by the Research firm Equilar he’ll make an estimated $42 million.
A meme war has started on social media, especially in India after Musk fired Parag from Twitter. Netizens have been circulating Parag Agrawal and Elon Musk memes all over the internet.
