The Madras Coffee House in Delhi received heavy criticism from netizens after a customer discovered eight cockroaches in her Mysore Dosa, sparking disgust and outrage online.
The incident, narrated by a student, unfolded when she visited the renowned eatery with a friend to enjoy some authentic South Indian cuisine for lunch. Upon receiving their order of dosas, the customer was horrified to find several black spots on her crepes, which upon closer inspection turned out to be cockroaches, not burnt patches as initially thought.

Expressing her disgust, the customer filmed the ordeal and promptly notified the authorities, demanding action against the cafe. She lamented that the experience had left a profoundly unpleasant impression on her and voiced concerns about the hygiene standards of restaurants. As a vegetarian, she was particularly dismayed to have been served arthropods. She questioned the frequency of hygiene inspections and license checks by authorities to prevent such incidents from occurring.
In response to the incident, the restaurant issued a public apology and assured compliance with authorities.
However, netizens expressed skepticism, with many highlighting similar instances and making sarcastic remarks, such as labeling the dosa as a “protein dosa.”
This incident underscores the ongoing concerns regarding food safety and hygiene practices in eateries across Delhi, prompting calls for stricter regulations and vigilant oversight to prevent such occurrences in the future.
