In the match, Gujarat Titans chose to bat first and scored 204/4 in their 20 overs, with Vijay Shankar scoring the highest runs of 63 off 24 balls, including four boundaries and five sixes. Sai Sudharshan scored his second half-century in IPL 2023, scoring 53 in 38 balls with three fours and two sixes. Shubman Gill also played well with 39 runs in 31 balls, including five fours.
KKR’s Sunil Narine took 3/33 in four overs, and Suyash Sharma took 1/35 in four overs. In their chase of 205 runs, KKR struggled initially at 28/2, but Nitish Rana (45 off 29 balls) and Venkatesh Iyer (83 off 40 balls) added a crucial partnership of 100 runs for the third wicket. KKR was in trouble at 155/7 after the dismissals of Rana and Iyer and Rashid’s hat-trick.
However, Rinku Singh played a crucial role, hitting five successive sixes in the final over to secure an unlikely victory for KKR. Rinku was named the Player of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 48 runs off 21 balls, including one four and six sixes. Rashid was the pick of the bowlers for GT, taking 3/37, while Alzarri Joseph took two wickets, and Joshua Little and Mohammed Shami took a wicket each.
