Jaya Bachchan Reveals She Has Never Addressed Big B As ‘Tum’ or ‘Tu’
In the podcast, Navya asked Jaya about her views on ‘red flags’ in relationships. Jaya didn’t hesitate to respond, stressing the importance of good manners. She explained that disrespectful behavior, like using informal terms (‘tu’ or ‘tum’), is a significant warning sign. Jaya also mentioned that she has never addressed Amitabh Bachchan informally throughout their relationship.
Speaking to Navya, Jaya Bachchan revealed, “One thing that I really dislike is when people say ‘tu’ aur ‘tum’, no matter with whom. Have you ever heard me talking to your grandfather using ‘tum?’ I think these things require conscious efforts, which your generation doesn’t do. Until you respect someone, there will be no love. Boundaries are very important.”

When Jaya Bachchan was asked about what’s love for her, she said, “Compatibility, understanding, adjustment,” adding, “You guys have relationships, not love.”
Jaya also recalled advice given to her by her mother-in-law, Teji Bachchan, which left a lasting impression on her. She revealed: “I remember, my mother-in-law always used to say, ‘The less you expect from people, you will face lesser disappointment in life’. I try to follow that. Happiness should come from a situation, from a feeling, and not by expecting it (from someone else).”
When Navya asked Jaya Bachchan about red flags, she immediately responded, “Bad manners would be a big red flag.”
