Babar Azam, beaming with joy, led a victorious Pakistan side to a 7-wicket triumph over Bangladesh in the ICC World Cup 2023, keeping their tournament hopes alive. The Men in Green displayed flawless performance, both with the bat and ball, denying the Tigers any chance of a comeback.
Babar expressed his gratitude to Indian fans for their support during the tournament, and when former player Ramiz Raja brought up the memorable support at the Eden Gardens, Babar lauded those fervent supporters.
“Thank you to all the fans in India for their support. They came in stadiums and supported us and treated us with dignity,”
he said acknowledging the love of Indian crowd for PCT.
When Babar strode to the crease following Abdullah Shafique’s exit, the crowd greeted him with an enthusiastic roar. Yet, despite the warm welcome, he could only muster 9 runs from 16 deliveries. Pakistan’s triumph, on the other hand, was orchestrated by their fast bowlers, who claimed a total of 8 wickets. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jr. were the standout performers, bagging three wickets each, while Haris Rauf contributed with two crucial scalps.
