As part of her hectic weekend, Kareena Kapoor Khan travelled to Kolkata to participate in the Indian Chamber of Commerce’s Young Leaders Forum. Kareena was quizzed about the current Boycott culture and the Boycott Bollywood movement during the event.
A number of people have been advocating for a boycott of Shah Rukh Khan’s next film Pathaan, which has prompted these comments from Kareena Kapoor. Deepika Padukone’s appearance in a saffron-coloured bikini in the song “Besharam Rang” caused the film to get criticism. A boycott was called for Laal Singh Chaddha, the most recent film starring Kareena Kapoor and Aamir Khan.
A similar campaign was launched against Aamir Khan’s “Laal Singh Chaddha,” which also starred Kareena Kapoor. After a clip from an interview with Aamir Khan from 2015 leaked, in which he claimed that his then-wife Kiran Rao had proposed they leave India because of the country’s “increasing intolerance,” several online commenters demanded a boycott of the film.
There has been an increase in recent years in the number of people who refuse to watch Bollywood films due to flimsy and insufficient grounds. Last year, numerous blockbuster movies saw internet boycott efforts, including Brahmastra and Raksha Bandhan.
Kareena said, “I don’t agree with it at all.” She added, “If that happens, how will we entertain, how will you have the joy and happiness in your life, which, I think everybody needs. Agar films nahi hogi toh entertainment kaisa hoga (What about entertainment if there are no films)?”
