In the IPL match between Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders held at Eden Gardens on May 11, Yashasvi Jaiswal set a new record for the fastest fifty in the history of the tournament.
Jaiswal accomplished this feat in just 13 balls, breaking the previous record of KL Rahul and Pat Cummins, who both achieved the milestone in 14 balls.
The left-handed batsman’s explosive performance lit up the iconic venue in Kolkata. Notably, Jaiswal also equaled the joint-second fastest fifty in T20 cricket along with Mirza Ahsan, Marcus Trescothick, and Sunil Narine.
The record for the fastest fifty in T20 cricket is Jointly still held by Yuvraj Singh, Chris Gayle, and Hazratullah Zazai. Jaiswal began the Royals’ run-chase by smashing 26 runs off the first over from Nitish Rana, hitting 20 runs off the first four balls and finishing the over with a boundary.
