The producer of ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, Rajan Shahi, has disclosed why Hina Khan departed from the show. According to Shahi, Khan’s termination stemmed from her script interference and filming disruptions.
Hina Khan, who had been a prominent figure on the show for years since her debut, reportedly clashed with the production team in the final months of her tenure.
Shahi recounted an incident where Khan refused to deliver lines supportive of another character, played by Shivangi Joshi. Despite attempts to resolve the issue amicably through discussions with the channel and Khan, tensions persisted.
During one particular shoot, Khan adamantly declined to perform the scripted lines, prompting Shahi to issue an ultimatum: adhere to the script or leave the set. Khan chose to remain in the makeup room for the duration of the day, and upon her departure, her contract was terminated. Despite returning the following day to film the scene as scripted, it was ultimately discarded. Here’s what he said
“One day, the shoot was going on and Hina didn’t want to say some lines that were in support of Shivangi Joshi’s character Naira. There was a certain level of script interference where Hina refused to say those lines. That day I told her she would have to do the scene as it was, when she didn’t agree I told her to either shoot or leave the set,” Shahi shared. He added she sat in the makeup room the whole day. It was after she left the set at night that her services were terminated. She was also sent a message and asked to not come on set anymore.
However, the next day she came and shot the scene as it had been written, Rajan was done with her and so at pack up she was informed that the association couldn’t continue anymore.
This development comes amid Shahi’s recent discussion regarding the termination of other cast members from the show.
