World Cup-winning former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh strongly condemned Kamran Akmal’s racist remarks about Indian fast bowler Arshdeep Singh. Akmal has faced significant backlash for his offensive comment about Arshdeep and his religion during the high-profile India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match on Sunday, June 9, in New York.
Harbhajan Singh, unrestrained in his criticism, denounced Akmal’s statements as ‘filthy’.
His reaction followed Akmal’s insensitive joke about Arshdeep and the Sikh community on a live television show.
Lakh di laanat tere Kamraan Akhmal.. You should know the history of sikhs before u open ur filthy mouth. We Sikhs saved ur mothers and sisters when they were abducted by invaders, the time invariably was 12 o’clock . Shame on you guys.. Have some Gratitude
Harbhajan Singh stated in a social media post, hours after Pakistan’s 6-run defeat by Rohit Sharma and his team.

Even before Harbhajan Singh’s outburst, Kamran Akmal was under fire for his comments, and he was seen laughing at another insensitive remark from a panelist during the show on Sunday. Despite some former cricketers’ inappropriate social media behavior, the India vs Pakistan game was played in good spirits at the Nassau County Cricket Stadium in New York.
Before the match, players from both teams displayed camaraderie, with Shaheen Afridi and Rishabh Pant sharing a high-five and embracing before heading onto the field for the national anthems in front of 34,000 fans.
After the thrilling contest, Rohit Sharma showed sportsmanship by consoling Naseem Shah, who was emotional after Pakistan’s narrow loss. Shah had given his all, taking 3 wickets and hitting a couple of boundaries in the last over, but Pakistan fell short of the 120-run target by just seven runs.
India currently tops Group A with two wins, while Pakistan risks early elimination after losing both their matches so far, including one against co-hosts USA in Grand Prairie last week.
