Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza are one of the most loved Bollywood couples. The couple has been together for over a decade-and-a-half and married for nine years, however, they still look like new in love. They are very active on social media, where they never fail to leave their fans in awe of them.
However, they didn’t get off on the right foot. Recently, Genelia revealed that she thought Riteish, being the son of former Maharashtra chief minister, Vilasrao Deshmukh, would be a ‘rich, very connected brat’.

And because of his preconceived image in her mind, Genelia ignored him on the sets of Tujhe Meri Kasam, which marked the debut of both Riteish and Genelia. The couple only started talking after Genelia realized that he is a ‘normal boy’, who doesn’t have a security detail. She revealed:
“Honestly, I thought that Riteish is this rich, very connected brat, so I shouldn’t look at him and talk to him, so I didn’t,”
She added:
“He was wondering why am I not talking. He was very sweet, so I wanted to talk to him, but I was like, one shouldn’t feel that I am talking to you because you are the chief minister’s son and all of that. But anyway, we started talking and then we never stopped for the next 18 years.”
During the same interaction, Riteish recalled the exact moment and said:
“At one point, I remember sitting for a shot on a bench in Ramoji Film City. They were shifting some lights. We were sitting on a bench and she looked at me and said, ‘Where is your security? Are they in the bush?’ I said, ‘What security? I don’t have any.’ That’s what changed, that this is a normal boy who roams around without security,”
