As we all have witnessed, 2022 was not in favor of Bollywood. Only a few movies performed well at the box office and the rest either received mixed reviews or were brutal failures. But why? What are the major reasons behind the downfall of Bollywood?

Today, in this article we will discuss about the factors which we believe are the major reasons behind the downfall of Bollywood.

Sequels

Some movies impact audiences so much that they wait for the sequels of the same. However, most of the time when Bollywood tried to come up with a sequel, it failed to impress the viewers ( of course there are exceptional cases). This year, the sequel to the superhit movie ‘Ek Villian’ got released. ‘ Ek Villian Returns’ starred Arjun Kapoor and Disha Patani in prominent roles and the film brutally failed to perform at the box office as people claimed that it was a really bad sequel.

Poorly Researched History

It was reported that a lot of research was done before making Akshay Kumar starrer Samrat Prithviraj, But when the movie got released, the audience, viewers, critics, and everyone found so many flaws in the film and opinionized that the movie was made in a hurry and research work wasn’t done properly.

Badly Written Scripts

Even though Brahmastra performed well compared to other movies, it was also criticized for its cringy dialogues. In the name of delivering audience flabbergasting and so-called ‘masala’ movies, filmmakers could provide viewers with really bad scripts. ‘Liger’ is the perfect example of the statements said above.

Moralistic Family Dramas

Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani starrer Jug Jugg Jeeyo tried its best to remove the taboo around Divorce that prevail in our country but in the end, it failed because everyone gets back together. Raksha Bandhan could be another example of the same.

Objectification of women

Is it necessary to add item numbers in every other movie? Why is Bollywood so obsessed with item songs that objectify women mostly? Makers need to understand that we are living in 2022 and if the storyline of the movie keeps the audience engaged, it can perform well even without special dance numbers.

Flawed Casting

Every other person opinionized that some other actor should have been cast as Samrat Prithviraj in place of Akshay Kumar. And once again Bollywood is repeating this mistake by casting Akshay Kumar as Shivaji Maharaj as netizens have started criticizing him only after having a glimpse emphasizing that no one can play Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s role b
