Renowned actress Priyanka Chopra has been in the headlines lately for her latest podcast interview with Dax Shepard where she talked about moving out of Bollywood. However, she has now found herself in the news again, but this time reason is quite different, and she even got trolled for the same.
The actress has been a vocal supporter of the Indian film RRR. However, she recently found herself being trolled on social media after referring to the film as a Tamil film. RRR is actually a Telugu-language film directed by S.S. Rajamouli, and was released in multiple languages, including Tamil.
While comparing Hollywood and Bollywood, Priyanka said,
“I don’t think you are far from it. I think that was what it was… big studios, five actors… big movies will be made by them; but the game is changed so much now. First of all, it’s streaming. It has given access to so many people who are making content.”
She also corrected Dax who called RRR a Bollywood and said that it was a Tamil film,
“Bollywood has evolved in such an incredible way. You have the mainstream big action and the love story and the dancing…” When Dax interrupted and said, “RRR…”, Priyanka corrected him and said,
“That’s a Tamil movie by the way.” She went on, “It’s like big, mega, blockbuster Tamil which does all of those… it’s like our Avengers
The Quantico actress was heavily criticized by netizens for her mistake, with many advising her to do some research before making such statements. Some social media users even accused her of being ignorant and arrogant.
Taking this moment to correct @priyankachopra RRR is not a Tamil film, it's a Telugu film! Also, Rajamouli has clarified many times that it's an Indian film as it was released in multiple languages across India. ☺️☺️

And another example of how North Indians never do a bit of research when the assignment is outside bollywood.
