Dilip Joshi, who portrays ‘Jethalal Gada’ in the long-running Indian sitcom ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’, nearly left the show after a severe altercation. The series began in 2008 and has faced its share of controversies and cast changes, with many former members revealing behind-the-scenes conflicts.
Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal, who played ‘Mrs. Roshan Sodhi’, revealed in an interview with Bollywood Thikana that Dilip Joshi once had a significant clash with Sohil Rahmani, the operational head of the show.
According to Jennifer, during a heated exchange on set, Sohil threw a chair at Dilip, leading Joshi to threaten to quit if Rahmani continued working on the show. As a result, Sohil was kept away from Dilip for two years, with other cast members also boycotting him due to his behavior.
Sohil Rahmani’s Response
In response to these allegations, Sohil Rahmani told Hindustan Times that Jennifer Mistry Bansiwal’s claims were a ‘publicity stunt’. He questioned why Jennifer chose to return to the show in 2016 if she had such issues, pointing out that her return was voluntary.
“If Jennifer had so many problems with the show and the producer, why did she come back and join us in 2016. Nobody had forced her. Why did she message Asit bhai ki, ‘Main sudhar gayi hoon, sir mujhe ek mauka do’. So, I am unable to understand her issues.”
Jennifer Mistry recently won a sexual harassment case against the show’s producer, Asit Modi. The verdict, declared on February 15, 2024, found Asit Modi guilty and ordered him to compensate Jennifer with Rs. 5 lakh in addition to clearing all her dues.
Jennifer expressed satisfaction with the verdict, stating it validated her allegations with strong evidence.
