A social media post attributed to Virat Kohli recently gained significant attention. In the post, Virat Kohli supposedly expressed his intention to host a party for the Pakistan cricket team.
The Pakistan Cricket Team made a triumphant return to India for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 after a seven-year absence. Led by Babar Azam, they arrived in Hyderabad on September 27, excitedly anticipating the upcoming tournament and appreciating the warm welcome from the cricket-loving nation.
Shortly after the Pakistan team’s arrival, a tweet emerged from an account with the username @amiVkohli, claiming to be Virat Kohli’s official account. In this tweet, the former Indian captain warmly welcomed the Pakistan team and announced plans to host a celebration in their honor. The tweet read,
“I extend a warm welcome to the Pakistan Cricket Team on their return to my country after a seven-year absence. I plan to host a gathering for my friends, especially for Shadab, at my home. Love you all, let’s always spread love and joy.”

However, upon closer investigation, it became evident that this tweet did not originate from Virat Kohli’s official Twitter account, @imVkohli. Furthermore, there was no evidence of such a tweet on his official account from September 27 onwards.
What adds intrigue to this situation is that the parody account, @amiVkohli, shares the same profile picture as Virat Kohli’s genuine account, featuring his wife Anushka Sharma, and even has the same bio, stating “A proud husband and father.” Nevertheless, the account owner has explicitly stated that it is a parody account in the account description.
It’s essential to recognize that Virat Kohli shares a friendly rapport with Pakistani cricketers, often engaging in light-hearted banter with them, both on and off the field. Therefore, the viral tweet was mistakenly believed to be genuine.
India vs Pakistan on 14th October
On a different note, Pakistan has kicked off their World Cup campaign with a remarkable 81-run victory against the Netherlands on October 6th at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. One of the most eagerly anticipated matches of the tournament will be the showdown between Pakistan and India on October 14th at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, promising to be a thrilling encounter between the two arch-rivals.
