7 scripts Deepika Padukone rejected straightaway
Gangubai Kathiawadi
Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial proved to be one of the biggest hits of 2022. The film is about the story of Gangubai, a strong lady from the dark streets of Mumbai, who stood up to political glory. According to reports, Deepika was offered a role in the film but she refused as she didn’t want to share the screen with Alia Bhatt. Later, more rumors circulated about Padmavat actress being offered a lead role, but she still denied because she didn’t want to be part of the crime drama.
Shhuddhi
As per TOI, Deepika Padukone was offered the role of the female lead in this much-talked film of Karan Johar. However, due to personal reasons and commitments, Deepika chose Bajirao Mastani over Shhuddhi. Later, the role was offered to Kareena Kapoor Khan but the movie is yet to be made.
“As of now movie is on hold because of logistical reasons but it will made one day,” said Karan.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
Jab Tak Hai Jaan starred Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif in the main lead and it performed brilliantly at the box-office. Initially, the role of Meera was offered to Deepika Padukone but the actress rejected this movie as well and no one knows the exact reason. Later, Katrina Kaif was finalized for the role.
Fast & Furious 7
This Hollywood action movie was a massive success in 2015. Deepika Padukone was the only Bollywood actress who was offered the role in this film along with opportunity to star alongside Vin Diesel and other Hollywood celebs like Dwayne Johnson, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez. But due to her commitments, again she said NO to the offer. Apparently, she was busy shooting for Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela at that time.
Dhoom 3
Bollywood’s most popular franchise film, Dhoom 3 was offered to Deepika Padukone for the role of ‘Aaliya’ which she rejected because of her previous dates and work commitment. The role was eventually offered to Katrina Kaif and she accepted the project. The role of Aaliya was then played by her.
Roy
Another film in which fans could have witnessed the chemistry between Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone on the big screen is Roy. It was after the actress rejected the role that the opportunity was grabbed by Jacqueline Fernandez, who was seen as the female lead but movie turned out to be Flop.
Sultan
Few years ago, Deepika expressed her willingness to work with Salman Khan. When the opportunity came, she denied the offer and the reason being the same as every time, prior work commitments. The role was later offered to and portrayed by Anushka Sharma, and Sultan turned out to be the most successful movie of that year. Before Sultan, Deepika Padukone was offered Prem Ratan Dhan Payo opposite Salman Khan and she willingly missed the opportunity.
Deepika Padukone was last seen in the Shakun Batra directorial Gehraiyaan sharing screen with Ananya Panday, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Dhairya Karwa. The movie received back-lash from audience.
