Suhani Bhatnagar, the 19-year-old actress renowned for her portrayal of young Babita Kumari Phogat in the film ‘Dangal’, passed away in Delhi. Her demise, attributed to complications from medication following a leg fracture, was confirmed by Aamir Khan’s production house.
Expressing their grief on Instagram, the production house lamented the loss of Suhani, praising her talent and integral role in ‘Dangal’. Reports suggest that complications arising from medication, administered during her treatment for a leg fracture, led to fluid retention in her body, possibly contributing to her unfortunate demise. However, official confirmation on this matter is pending.
Suhani, who had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS hospital in Delhi, will be laid to rest on Saturday. Her portrayal in ‘Dangal’ earned her widespread recognition, alongside co-stars Aamir Khan, Sakshi Tanwar, and Zaira Wasim. Despite her early success, Suhani opted to take a hiatus from acting to focus on her education, a decision echoed by her co-star Zaira in 2019. Notably, Suhani had maintained a low profile on social media, with her last post dating back to November 2021.
May her soul rest in peace!
