Dalai Lama has been in the headlines these days as his recent actions have led to outrage on Twitter. The world-renowned Tibetan spiritual leader recently attended a public event in India where he kissed a minor boy on the lips and asked him to suck his tongue.
The video of the shocking incident has now gone viral all over social media as many called it ‘disgusting’ and ‘unbecoming’. Soon after the went viral, Dalai Lama’s team released a statement on social media which also led to some backlash for the leader.
The video and his apology have led to a furious response from netizens on all social platforms. Some people pointed out that ‘it doesn’t matter if he is a spiritual leader’ he should be held responsible for his actions.
The clip that went viral shows Dalai Lama interacting with a young boy and then trying to kiss him. When the boy moved away, Dalai Lama pressed his head to the young boy’s. He then pointed at his mouth and stuck his tongue out, asking the boy to ‘suck his tongue’.
After the backlash, the team reacted to the incident with an official statement saying

‘His holiness regrets the incident.’ It also added that “His Holiness wishes to apologize to the boy and his family, as well as his many friends across the world, for the hurt his words may have caused.”
However, netizens pointed out how the statement did not mention the true incident that everyone is upset about. It claimed the young boy asked to hug Dalai Lama and his holiness was just teasing him. One Twitter user said,
