A few days ago, the Prime Minister celebrated the 126th birthday of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose by extending his wishes to the people of India for the holiday of Parakram Diwas.
He claimed the Andaman Islands were the first to raise the free tricolor. According to PM Modi, there was an effort to forget about Netaji, but the 21st century is a witness to the transformation in how Netaji is remembered. The Prime Minister went on to say that the Andaman and Nicobar Islands are now visited by those who want to immerse themselves in India’s past.
The model of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep National Memorial was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi. The biggest 21 unnamed islands in the Andaman and Nicobar archipelago were also given new names by the Prime Minister. They were named as per the names of the 21 Param Vir Chakra awardees.
Film actors who have portrayed recipients of the Param Vir Chakra, such as Sidharth Malhotra, Ajay Devgn, and Suniel Shetty, have expressed their approval of the decision on social media.
Suniel Shetty tweeted,
“Thank you, Hon. PM @narendramodi ji for renaming 21 islands of #AndamanNicobar in the names of the 21 #ParamVirChakra awardees, the true heroes of our Nation, on the 126th Birth Anniversary of the great #NetajiSubhasChandraBose. So proud! #JaiHind #ParakramDivas.” The actor played Rifleman Sanjay Kumar in JP Dutta’s LOC: Kargil.”

Siddharth Malhotra, who played the critically acclaimed Captain Vikram Batra in Shershaah, tweeted:
